Thanks to many, many years at summer camp, I can keep a set of "singing you to sleep" songs going, pretty much continuously, for at least an hour. What I lack in talent, I supplement with knowing all of the words. And also enthusiasm. I do enjoy singing. I'm just bad at it.
One particularly diplomatic friend says I "make the songs [my] own", but really, it's not great. At said summer camp, a child once asked me to please stop, because she was "trying to hear the good singers".
And it's made worse by trying to sing over an angry baby. But, once she heard me over herself, she'd quiet down for a minute or two.
I play the radio a lot during the day so she has exposure to other music as well as my endless singing.
Why is the baby so upset? (Is. It's been three hours. She's still feeling delicate.) I do not know. Guesses include that the apple she gummed for breakfast isn't agreeing with her, teething (I love how basically anything at any time can be blamed on teething), some sort of impending cold, and just not having a great day.
