And now we are almost a week into just doing one nap every day and things are much easier.
What we did, in case I ever have occasion to do this again...
- Gradually push the morning nap back. Nine, nine thirty, ten.
- As the afternoon nap is skipped, wear the kid for as long as it takes to keep everyone sane. This started with "from the point you gave up on the afternoon nap until dinner" and then gradually became later and later.
- Once we got to an eleven am nap, light snack before, lunch after, no after school snack. Then back to regular lunch as things adjusted.
- Bedtime strictly enforced. No later than 7:15.
My husband brought home an onion. He had an apple and peanut butter for dinner. I offered to cook after we fed the poor kid, but he came home hungry. So, we each ate different things. I think it was pretty mind blowing for Little Miss since aside from take-out/restaurant meals, we all eat the same things every dinner.
I didn't mention it when it happened, but the spot where I citrus-zested my middle finger has healed up nicely. One day last week, I pared my thumb (mostly the nail in the nailbed) in such a way that I told my poor husband he was going to be made to look at it and feel badly for me for at least six weeks.
It looks better than it did, but it still really hurts and I am sticking with my six weeks estimate.
