This morning I had a revelation. In part it was inspired by the short lecture my mother gave me about always having practical shoes. It was also inspired in part by something I read online. And by the rain. And by the fact that I am going to have to bring work home with me tonight (advices to sort) so I needed to bring my big bag to work anyway.... and by the fact that when I looked around I noticed that I was the only one on the bus not wearing practical shoes.
So, here's the newsflash....
I just had my first experience with why people wear gym shoes. No, seriously.
Walking to the bus stop is so much easier when you aren't wearing shoes with a four inch heel. Walking by the side of the road where there is no sidewalk and the cars go 40+ mph is so much easier in gym shoes. You have no idea how this came as a shock to me. Well, maybe you will if you bear in mind that mostly everyone who knows me who has seen me wear these shoes has commented, because I haven't owned gym shoes since I was roughly 5 years old.
Yeah, I wore my gym shoes to work and then changed when I got here. I realize this is only revolutionary to me.
So, now the gym shoes are the muddy ones sitting under my desk and the dress shoes are the clean ones on my feet. Plus as an added bonus, I didn't really even have to worry about slipping and falling on the hillside on the way to work and getting muddy and possibly run over.
Seriously, the gym shoes make the bus ride so much more bearable. I kinda even feel like I don't need a car.... I don't think that feeling will last long after Waste is gone though... cause I'll have to run my own errands again....
