We don't know yet if the baby has it. It's an important part of who I am and all that, but also not such a big deal to us that it matters right now what the baby's collagen genes look like.
There's a lot that's common in OI and applies to me that I wasn't aware of when I was a kid. Because information about OI was most readily available to me at a university library. Which is a lot more complicated than getting information from the internet.
I didn't lay eyes on another person with OI who wasn't a member of my extended family until I was a voting adult. I don't think I even saw a high resolution, full-color picture of such a soul, even after I got to college and joined an OI listserve.
The internet is amazing.
