The baby and I went to "family swim" today. Because I love to swim, and she's a really, really good sport (who also likes swimming). Also: heatwave.
We had a lovely time. It was our first open (non-class) swim. We played in an inner tube and we splashed and jumped off the wall and floated and talked to other moms and smiled at babies and big kids. We stayed the whole time and it was very fun.
On the way in, there was a woman behind me at the parking kiosk. And she asked how far apart my babies would be. And I had to tell her I'm not pregnant. I think she wanted to die. She was still apologizing an hour later. Meanwhile, my face hurts from laughing about it.
I guess my shapeless gauzy (tie-dye) maxi dress with a lap-swim style Speedo under plus the baby on my hip is the least flattering combination I could put together.
I hope I run into her again. I think we could be great friends if she could get past apologizing. (Honestly, I do. She seemed very nice. Who wants a friend who doesn't say something stupid every now and again?)
