Yesterday, the Spring Cleaning bug hit hard. Well, on Wednesday I gave the dog a bath and a good de-shedding, but she smelled so bad I couldn't stand to walk within five feet of her, so I don't regard that as the first sign.
The baby and I took the curtains and chair covers and picnic blankets and car towels and dog beds and the like to the laundrymat.
Two double machines, one triple, two quadruples and one sextuple (dog beds). We used all front loaders because reaching the bottom of a top loader with a twenty-ish pound baby strapped to my chest is... improbable at best.
We went for unload into rolling baskart, load into a machine, start it, repeat. I loaded the car with everything already sorted.
By the time we had the last of the stuff loaded, we had eight minutes of downtime. This is what I like best about the laundrymat. It takes the thousand tiny annoyances of fussing with the wash every forty-five minutes or whatever indefinitely and turns it into ninety minutes of action and then it is finished.
We were going to use our eight minutes to read a book I brought, but the baby was busy people watching, so we spent it talking to a teenaged boy instead.
The dryer was mildly more complicated since I had to separate some stuff and air dry other stuff and all. We had ten minutes after it was all loaded over there. We used them for breastfeeding.
People were super nice and helpful. It was a really positive social experience.
And then after I finished loading up the car so we looked like homeless hoarders of upholstery, we picked the dog up from daycare and were home before my husband had finished bringing the water for dinner to a boil.
