For a long time, Isis's favorite game was "attack everything that moves". Then, it became "attack everything that stops moving". Then for awhile his favorite game was "pretend like I am running away, but the outside scares me so I'll run back in". Lately, it's been "jump into the freezer every chance I get. Look how high I can jump. Go ahead, shut me in for 10 minutes. I'll still jump in next time.".... He's not a normal cat.
Last night and this morning, his little game was "splash myself in the face by knocking over the pitcher."
I keep a pitcher of water in my living room. I like water. My ankle is still hurt. My coffee table is a mess. So, I was storing it on the floor. All the sudden I hear "meow!" and then "splash!".
I look over. Stupid Cat is crying. mewing sad little meows. His whole head is sopping wet.
I think he's learned his lesson. Nope.
Then I start watching him... He would grab the edge of the pitcher (hooking his paw on the handle) and then pull it towards himself. When it splashed him in the face, he'd do a little [presumably] happy dance and come back. When it fell all the way over, that made him sad. So, I'd have to turn it upright again.
I thought this was an attention thing... like "look, I'm out of food!" or "my litter box is dirty so I'll make your carpet all wet"...
but he had food, water, clean litter, toys that weren't stranded under the furniture.... I gave him a couple treats, but he went right back to upsetting the pitcher. When I tried to put it up... He climbed up on the coffee table. He cried and cried and cried when it was finally empty.
